On Friday, September 10th my nine year old niece, Natalia Flores and her family received the life changing news that she has Leukemia.  Ever since Natalia had been hit by a car in April, she had been consistently complaining about different pains throughout her body.  After getting an ultra sound and finding out that her spleen was enlarged, her parents continued to push for answers thinking it was related to the accident.  After doing blood work and  finding enlarged lymph nodes throughout her body , Natalia's pediatrician called and said they needed to go to choc hospital emergency room. More blood work was done and the doctor finally confirmed she had B Cell Leukemia and was admitted to Choc hospital that day. This type of Leukemia cell multiples uncontrollably, crowding out the healthy cells in her bone marrow which explains all the pain she's been having. It is aggressive but common form of childhood leukemia that has a good success rate. Natalia has already undergone so many test last week and has started her chemotherapy with other medication. It is a 2 year treatment plan with aggressive chemo, repeated bone marrow aspirations, lumbar taps and blood transfusions for the first 10 months. There is a long road ahead for Natalia and her family.  We have full faith that God is working great things through Natalia in this very hard situation. The army of prayers are certainly being heard. My sister will be taking a leave of absence to take care of Natalia at home full time. Any donations for the Flores family would be greatly appreciated.
