Eisbär is 11 years old and has been blind for eight months. He loves life and has run into many objects, causing trauma to his head. Now to continue his happy life, he needs surgery that his family can't afford
Eisbär is a very happy canine living his best life in Kortrijk with climbers Nat Bell and Jan De Smit. Unfortunately, now his life is threatened by an injury to his head caused by his blindness. He needs a CT scan, and then surgery, and his chances of recovery are very high.
His little brother Bolo, adopted by Nat and Jan from Mexico, needs Eisbär very much, even more so than Nat and Jan. But to make things more complicated, Nat and Jan have recently made career changes after being forced to walk away from a business they started. They are freshly self-employed and with zero spare cash. To cover Eisbär's treatment, they could attempt to sell an old barn they have recently acquired, but the funds would come too late for saving the dog.
Nat and Jan are fixtures in the climbing community and are known for their love of animals. Apart from Eisbär and Bolo, Nat also had an adopted cat, as well as a bunch of rescue chickens. She is vegan and very passionate about animal welfare. However, neither she nor Jan can take out a loan at the moment. Therefore they need our help to help Eisbär. And you can be absolutely sure that when they have spare cash themselves, they spend it on helping other animals in need!
Eisbär & Bolo travel with Nat and Jan around Europe, following them in their own climbing as well as working as routesetters.
With Nat and Jan's funds running short at this time because of their forced career change, it would be tragic for them to lose Eisbär, especially only because they can't afford his treatment. At the moment, its total cost is estimated at 4,000EUR but depending on the progress, it can be even higher.
To determine what the growth on his head is, Eisbär needs a CT scan. Then, surgery will be carried out in accordance with the scan's findings. Doctors suspect either scar tissue, or a skull fracture that resulted in a brain fluid leak. Either of these can be successfully treated, but at the moment the pressure causes Eisbär a lot of pain and violent nose bleeds.
Please consider supporting Nat and Jan and Bolo and Eisbär by sending their way a couple of Euros!
If you're a climber, you're very likely to know them from the crags around Europe where they travel to in their van with both Bolo and Eisbär, always being kind and helpful to everybody they encounter in both their private and professional lives.
Let's send that kindness back at them by saving Eisbär!
