Since opening in July, Nash Hedgehog Rescue has already cared for 54 hedgehogs. At times we have had to close to new admissions simply because we were full.

We now have a second shed which we are turning into a dedicated Hedgehog ICU. This will give us a separate space for our most poorly hedgehogs, away from those who are recovering, as well as increasing the number of hedgehogs we are able to care for.

There is quite a bit of work needed to turn an empty shed into a safe, warm and practical rescue space. We need to insulate and line it, install electrics and easy-clean flooring, and equip it with worktops, storage, a sink, heat pads, scales, feeding equipment and all the other bits and pieces needed to care for our patients.

We'll be doing as much of the work ourselves as possible, and every pound raised will go towards helping the hedgehogs in our care and getting our new ICU up and running.
