I am raising funds for someone I know personally, Nargas Bibi, a woman in her 30s from Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 1 cancer.

Nargas is divorced and comes from a very poor background. She has no stable source of income.

Out of respect for Nargas’s privacy and wishes, I have chosen not to use her photograph on this fundraiser. The image used is representative and is not a photograph of Nargas.

She is now facing the additional financial burden of cancer treatment and is currently receiving care at Ghurki Trust & Teaching Hospital in Lahore.

While Stage 1 cancer can often be treated successfully when the appropriate treatment is available, the costs involved in investigations, hospital care, medicines, procedures and ongoing treatment can be overwhelming for someone living in such difficult financial circumstances.

Nargas simply cannot afford these costs on her own.

I am therefore asking friends, family, members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri community, and anyone with the means to help, to come together and support Nargas through this difficult period.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.

£5, £10 or £20 may seem like a small amount, but when people come together, those donations can help provide Nargas with the medical care she needs.

The money raised will be used towards Nargas’s cancer treatment, hospital and medical expenses, medicines, investigations and other costs directly related to her care.

As Nargas lives in Pakistan, the funds will be collected in the UK and transferred to her to help pay for her medical treatment and associated expenses. Updates will be provided to supporters as the fundraiser progresses.
