Hi, my name is Naomi Ooue and I am disabled and sight impaired and absolutely love sailing. I am a member at Sailability Gold Coast where I train and take other disabled people sailing. Additionally I am a member of the Queensland Para Sailing Academy and recently was runner up in the Qld Para Sailing Awards…I just love sailing.

When I was 17 years young, I had a brain tumour, resulting in surgery, however the right side of my brain was effected and this left me with reduced vision in both eyes and my entire left side was paralysed and my leg was extremely disabled. Naturally, at 17 I was devastated. I lost all my confidence and worst of all lost my will and my dreams. Some years later I became involved with Sailability, first in Osaka and then when I immigrated to the Australia joined Sailability Gold Coast. This turned my life around. I had renewed confidence, new dreams and aspirations were ignited aain, which brings me to where I am today. Sailing weekly and now winning races.

Next year in February 2026 there is a race coming up in Auckland, the Skud International Sailing Match Race to be held from Friday 20th February 2026.

One of my goals is to compete in this event and represent Qld and Australia, however my funds are limited. In fact I am $4000 short at the moment. I am collecting cans and bottles to cash in, but I fear I will be short, still.

So this Go Fund Me page is to ask of you to donate to help allow me to achieve my goal. As a disabled person I am very proud of my achievements to date but these are only part of my goals…I feel I must achieve this next one so please help me if you can….every bit helps and I will be truly grateful.
