Help Naomi Recover from Serious Car Accident

Naomi, our daughter's Biomom with whom we have an open adoption, was in a severe accident Thursday (Jan 20) in Nebraska, where she now lives. She was transported from the scene by helicopter to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska . She suffered a broken collar bone, dislocated shoulder, and fractures in her chest. Due to the blunt force trauma to her chest, she also suffered cardiac arrest from contusion of the myocardial muscle. Thankfully, there were no ruptures or tears to the heart. She sustained all this injury with a seatbelt on in a head-on collison. She has health insurance but a hefty deductible to meet and physical therapy co-pays. She cannot work during her recovery and has no short or long-term disability insurance with her employer. Like most young people her age, who have to pay very high insurance premiums, she only had minimum state mandate coverage, and her car is totaled. We met Naomi when we worked on a Chrysalis Flight (Methodist spiritual renewal retreat) in 2017. She is a very young woman who has overcome so much already before this accident, and with some help, she will continue to overcome and thrive. She chose life for our daughter and placed her with us after meeting at Chrysalis and remembering our story of losing a child. We consider the flesh and blood of our daughter to be our family.
