Help Naomi Joy Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Mark and Esther Filpus were brokenhearted to hear the recent news that their sweet five-year-old Naomi Joy was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma. They’ve been thrown into the deep end of the dark waters a cancer diagnosis brings…but not without the loving support of their family and friends and the daily strength of the Lord.
As a friend of their family, I know this cancer diagnosis comes with daunting challenges because of its lengthy and costly treatment plan and the fact that almost all of Naomi’s care will take place about two hours away from their home.
Would you read Naomi’s story below and consider supporting the Filpus family through prayer and a donation to the GoFundMe that has been created for the significant medical and travel expenses that are about to come?
The GoFundMe will remain open through the duration of Naomi’s treatment. I pray we can take the financial burden off Mark and Esther’s shoulders, so the focus can be 100% on Naomi’s health and the care of their family.
Thank you so much for coming around this amazing family both spiritually and financially in this difficult time. Be blessed as you give! And please feel free to share the GoFundMe link on social media.

Naomi’s symptoms had been sporadic since late last summer/fall. Tummy aches, left side pain, back pain... always a moving target. Never for too many days in a row, going back to a bouncy, vibrant little girl.
We had allergy tests done and had given her extra vitamins. We had a basic X-ray done in the middle of December with no significant findings. We even put her on a special diet for a couple of weeks that we thought was helping, but when Naomi spiked a fever and wanted to lie down for almost 2 days straight, we knew something wasn’t right.
I called the doctor and we were able to be seen immediately by the same doc as a month prior...he’s usually booked up but I’m certain that the Lord had gone before us.
The doctor ordered a CT scan and it revealed a tumor on her left adrenal gland that had metastasized to her lymph nodes in her neck, her abdomen, and into the bone marrow in her spine. Stage 4.
Naomi’s adrenal cancer is considered High Risk because of her age. She has a 15-month treatment plan ahead of her. We have had the prayers and practical love of an army surrounding us and we are calling on more warriors to stand with us.
Naomi has an older sister, Lydia and older brother, Simeon. We’ve found ourselves in adventures before with Simeon needing open heart surgery when he was 8 months old, a feeding tube for over 2 years, and palate surgery back in 2018.
The Lord has been faithful to our family through all these years, and we have no doubt of His love now. If you would like to follow our journey, please visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/naomifilpus .
