Hello, my name is Naomi, and I’m a 42-year-old entrepreneur with a passion for food, mainly loving to eat it, and a dream that’s finally taking shape. After being laid off from a tech company, I found myself reevaluating my life and career. With a background in education and healthcare, I realized that working for someone else was no longer fulfilling for me.
Last year, I made a bold decision to leave Chicago and venture to Las Vegas in search of something different. Unfortunately, I didn't find the vibe I was seeking there. However, a trip to Jamaica revealed a sense of peace and belonging that I had longed for, prompting me to make the move here in April.
While living in Jamaica, I discovered a significant gap in the local food scene—specifically, a lack of authentic Mexican cuisine. This realization ignited my dream of starting a food truck, featuring a simple menu of four different types of burritos and two refreshing aguas frescas. My goal is to provide delicious, accessible meals at fair prices, bringing a taste of Mexico to Jamaica.
Cooking has always been a joy for me; there’s nothing quite like seeing the delight on someone’s face when they enjoy the food I’ve prepared. I miss that connection and the satisfaction of bringing comfort to others through my cooking. Alongside that, I want to create job opportunities for locals, sharing my love for food while contributing to the community.
Life has thrown its challenges my way, and the transition to an empty nest as my kids have grown up. However, I firmly believe that life doesn’t end with these changes; it’s just the beginning of a new chapter.
I’m reaching out to ask for your support to help fund my food truck venture. Your contributions will assist with startup costs, including equipment, permits, and ingredients. Together, we can make this vision a reality and bring joy—and great food—to both locals and visitors.
Thank you for considering supporting my journey. With your help, I can turn this dream into a delicious reality!
