Naomi has always dreamed of becoming a pediatric oncology nurse, ever since she bravely fought cancer as a child. From the age of 4 to 6 1/2, she underwent chemotherapy, and the nurses who cared for her left a lasting impression. Their compassion and strength inspired Naomi to dedicate her life to helping children facing similar battles.
After graduating college with a BS in Public Health, Naomi was accepted into a 14-month accelerated nursing program. She earned a scholarship that covers half her tuition, but she still needs help with the remaining costs, including room and board. Naomi currently works full-time as a medical assistant, helps care for me and her grandmother, and even takes on extra jobs as a nanny and with Instacart. Despite her incredible work ethic, the demands of nursing school will make it impossible for her to continue working during the program.
As her mother, I want nothing more than to see Naomi achieve her dream. I am disabled and unable to take on a second job, though I wish I could do more. That’s why we’re reaching out for help. Your support will not only help Naomi complete her education, but will also inspire hope in young patients and their families. When children see Naomi, they’ll know that survival is possible—and that they, too, can grow up to help others. Thank you for helping Naomi become the nurse she’s always dreamed of being.
