I adopted Nani fifteen years ago when I was only sixteen and she’s been by my side through so many of life’s ups and downs.

About a week ago, I noticed a strange lump on her stomach and took her to the vet. After an antibiotic shot, we were told to come back for further testing. Then, on Saturday night, the lump ruptured, leaving a large wound. I rushed her to the emergency vet, where they recommended a mastectomy. The vet suspects cancer, and the wound needs urgent treatment. Because Nani also has a grade 3 heart murmur, she needs an echocardiogram and blood work before she can safely undergo anesthesia. The total cost for her surgery and care is more than I can afford on my own, and I’ve already been denied for CareCredit and Scratchpay. Cherry only approved me for a portion of the cost, leaving me with a significant gap to cover.

Nani isn’t just a pet—she’s been with me through every major life event: moving to a new state alone, losing my dad, facing my depression diagnosis, nearly losing my best friend, questioning my faith, and building a new life with my partner. She’s been my constant source of comfort and love. I’m not ready to lose her, and I truly believe that with this surgery, she can enjoy several more happy years by my side.
