help Nancy with expenses during her recovery
Donation protected
Our friend and sister, Nancy Gagnat, has fought hard for many years to recover from several surgeries and regain her health. In 2023 she had a ruptured appendix that resulted in a long hospital stay and several weeks of recovery, returning to work in early 2024. Recently, a tumor was discovered in Nancy's lower abdomen that is most probably ovarian cancer. She will have surgery on Monday, January 13, which will determine the possibility of complete removal. If it can be removed, she will remain in hospital for several days and faces 4-6 weeks of recovery, as well as chemotherapy.
While we are not currently certain of the treatment and recovery path, we do know that Nancy will be unable to work for many weeks. She has applied for the Washington medical leave act stipend, but this will not come into fruition for 3-4 weeks, at best. In addition, Nancy's current employer has no provision for paid time off or pooled sick leave.
Nancy was just catching up financially from being off work for so long, when this additional challenge hit. Without income from her employment, Nancy will be unable to meet her housing expenses.
We want Nancy to be able to focus on her recovery without financial worry. We know she has many loving friends and family members that want to contribute to her healing and recovery, so we are making this GoFundMe page available as one means to contribute to that journey. Thank you in advance for your support and caring.
