Help Nancy WIN Her Re-Sentencing Hearing!

Hello! Nancy Rish was convicted of a crime her abusive ex-boyfriend committed when she was in her mid-20's. She will be turning 60 in December!

She has been fighting for her innocence and freedom for over 30 years. Based on a new Illinois law which requires domestic violence to be taken into account at sentencing, Nancy has been granted a Re-Sentencing Hearing!! This is great news, as it gives us hope that she will be coming home soon!

With that being said, WE NEED YOUR HELP! For Nancy's re-sentencing hearing, we are trying to bring on a psychologist who specializes in the trauma and PTSD that is caused from domestic violence. This will give Nancy the best possible chance to come home to her family and friends after being wrongfully convicted for over 30 years.

Nancy's innocence is supported by Freebird Movement, Former Wardens, Deputy Director of IDOC, Former CO's, dozen's of former and current inmates, investigative journalists, witnesses, multiple innocence organizations, religious organizations, and countless friends, family members, and community members.

Nancy has spent her time incarcerated earning multiple degrees and certificates, as well as, becoming a Master Groomer with the PAWS program, a program which helps inmates train service animals. She even developed and implemented an 8 week course to instruct new trainees in dog grooming. Certification for those completing the course has been approved by the IDOC in Springfield and the wardens at Logan.

She has no other arrests or criminal history and has an exemplarily disciplinary record. She is well regarded as a mentor and teacher amongst her peers. She has the support of her friends and family who have stuck by her on this long and unfortunate journey. She already has a place to live and a job lined up for when she can come home.

To the Family of Stephen Small,

We are deeply sorry for your loss and the incredible pain you have all experienced. We in no way, want to minimize the pain of losing a husband and father in such a traumatic and brutal way. We cannot imagine how difficult this is for you all to relive. We do not wish to bring you any more suffering. We only wish to bring justice and truth to light. Truth being, that Danny Edwards was the sole person who made the decisions that brought us to this point today, and that Nancy Rish is incredibly sorry that she enabled Danny to be able to carry out his plan, regardless of the lack of knowledge she had at the time.
