Help Nancy Vait Beat Lymphoma

Story

UPDATE #2: Surprising no one, my mom is an unassailable trooper and has made it most of the way through her treatment in Seattle. Her medical team is in optimistic consensus that the treatment has been successful. There were, however, some complications which resulted in an extended stay for her and my dad. They have humbly given me permission to re-open donations. Thank you all so much for your love and generosity - every bit of it has helped my parents navigate this difficult season.UPDATE: My mom and dad would like to express their warmest gratitude to everyone who has donated and for your words of encouragement. This campaign has brought to her and dad a tremendous sense of comfort in calm as they pack their camper to leave for Seattle. She has requested that I close down donations at this time, but I encourage you to continue leaving love notes for Mrs. Vait here on this page; every single one of them is an extraordinary treasure. Hi friends and family,   Some of you know my mom as Nancy, or Nanć. Some know her as Mrs. Vait, or The Best Teacher I Ever Had. I know her as Mom.   In 2015, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma. We have all bore witness to her indomitable spirit on her heroic road to recovery. Many of you bought books from her at the Homer Bookstore, or asked for book recommendations from afar, well after the worst of her chemo and radiation therapies were well in the dust.   Her current medication has lost its efficacy, and she has just returned to Homer from a consultation with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Though unexpected, it has not dampened her radiant spirit. She will spend roughly two months at the facility over the summer, where she will participate in CAR-T Cell Therapy, and we are raising funds to help offset the cost of her and Leo's stay in Seattle. As many of you know, Margit and I are no longer in the area to house my parents during their stay. This GoFundMe will help offset the costs of travel to and from Seattle and accommodations for two months. Mercifully, we expect the majority of her medical bills to be covered by insurance.   As we stack global uncertainties atop personal uncertainties, we are most humbly asking for you to donate if you can, or share this GoFundMe with someone who was touched by my mom's gentle hands, sparkling wit or boundless knowledge of Books and Beyond.   We love you and we will see you all on the other side.   love, The Vaits

Hi friends and family,

Some of you know my mom as Nancy, or Nanć.

We love you and we will see you all on the other side.

love,

The Vaits
