This fund was created by Nancy’s children on her behalf to lessen the financial burden as she laces up her gloves for her second battle with cancer.

Anyone who knows Nancy Buckingham knows that she loves everyone. She has spent the majority of her life-giving in so many forms, from instructing her students at her cosmetology school to volunteering as a Sunday School teacher, donating a kidney, taking in foreign exchange students and touching the lives of so many in countless ways.

In June of 2011, she found out that she had cancer and began chemo and radiation. She finished her treatments in August and was cancer-free. Until this February, when she was experiencing abdominal pain and, after many tests and scans, found out that she had a new tumor that would need to be removed.

Scarring from her previous battle has resulted in the need to completely remove her uterus and colon. A life-altering surgery that carries many burdens in itself.

Although our mom has been incredibly strong and positive in the face of this new diagnosis, our hope is that having to worry about costs won’t add to her battle ahead. To help give her the best fighting chance possible, we want to raise money to alleviate the financial hardships that will arise. She is loved beyond words, supported beyond measure and the toughest lady we know!

We plan to use any money raised to pay for lodging in Rochester in the week leading up to her surgery as she meets with doctors and specialists and also after her surgery so that us kids can be close to her without the need to drive back and forth from the cities. Beyond the immediate need, she will be unable to work as she heals, and we hope to help cover her rent and bills as much as possible. Also, cover any unexpected costs that come up.
