Nancy is a trans woman of color who has been unemployed since the beginning of the pandemic. Before the Covid-19 shut down in Philadelphia she was working as a barista and has since decided for her own health and well being to not seek a new place of employment in that field. Nancy has had an interest in coding for years and spent the beginning of the pandemic using free websites to teach herself more about javascript. She has since found a remote 6 month-long boot camp through UPenn that specializes in cybersecurity. After completing the boot camp Nancy will recive a certificate as an ethical hacker and be able to jump-start a stable career she is passionate about. For years she’s worked full time to keep housing and has not had the time or funds to both work and seek higher education. Nancy has already taken out a loan to cover the cost of school ($18,000) and is currently collecting just enough for rent and some bills from unemployment. The 6,000 she is asking for is to help cover living expenses so she can focus on her studies. The money will also help her make interest payments on the loan while she is in school. Thanks for the read, and your generosity in helping Nancy succeed and get her dream job!
