Help Nana to New York

Welcome to my crowdfunding campaign! I'm Nana Kruger (23), a jazz vocalist and composer from Amsterdam, and I'm thrilled to share my journey with you. With your support, I'm ready to take the next step in my musical career by studying at The New School in New York.

My Story:

In 2020, I got accepted into The New School's Bachelor of Fine Arts program in New York with a full scholarship. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced me to postpone my plans. Undeterred, I began my studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I've grown as a performer and artist.

I have already seen many great stages like Paradiso, North Sea Jazz, Grachtenfestival and done many beautiful projects like The National Youth Jazz Orchestra with Ruben Hein, Conservatory Talent Award 2024 and features with bands like Zuco 103. In June I will graduate and get my bachelor degree in Jazz Voice at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Now, I got accepted again to the Performer-Composer Master (with a scholarship) at The New School. I feel so blessed by this new opportunity and great continuation of my development. Even though I received a scholarship from The New School, the tuition and living costs are extremely high. I am from an artistic family, they support me with all their might, but unfortunately have small means.

Why The New School?

The Performer-Composer Master program at The New School is the perfect opportunity for me to deepen my understanding of jazz and expand my creative horizons. The New School boasts a rich history of nurturing talented artists, including prestigious alumni such as author James Baldwin, composer John Cage and Jazz pianist Robert Glasper. As you can imagine I can’t wait to immerse myself in the vibrant music scene of New York City and learn from the best in the industry.

My Vision:

For me, music is more than just a passion—it's a journey of exploration and connection. I'm fascinated by the endless possibilities of sound and color across different musical traditions. Inspired by (Jazz) legends like Betty Carter, Toninho Horta, Wayne Shorter, whose innovative approach to music continues to influence my own work. Through the Performer-Composer Master program, I aim to expand my musical palette, refine my composition skills, and deepen my understanding of Jazz history and tradition.
