Help Nana Start Over

On the early morning of February 14th 2021 a fire broke out at the Delair Court apartment building in Abbotsford. The fire was quick to spread, difficult to fight, and destroyed everything. Evacuation was quick, and Souad Shimoon (Nana) left with only her Pajamas and Purse.

Fire crews and the building management confirmed that the entire building was damaged and is unlivable. Many belongings and items in the building have been destroyed and will not be able to be salvaged.  All the residents in that building have been forced out and will need to start over.

Nana is a 73 year old Lebanese immigrant, having come to Canada in her early 20's with nothing but a suitcase. Starting from scratch and building up a loving family consisting of 2 kids and 4 grandkids, she nestled down at Delair Court in cozy retirement. Because of the fire, Nana has lost everything near and dear to her.

Our community has graciously helped by putting clothes on her back and putting her up in a hotel for a few days until more permanent living arrangements are made.

We are looking to raise funds for her so that she can start over with the basics, such as furniture, as well as have funds for replacing documents, pay for insurance and medication.
