We are SO incredibly grateful for your generous support, prayers, and love for Nana/Maria Zarate during this very challenging past month and a half. Nana is truly an angel on this earth, and has always put everyone else first, exuding love and kindness in everything she does.

Update: We are going on month two, and Nana has been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called 'Dermomyositis', which has caused severe inflammation, muscle weakness, and an inability to swallow. She is currently back in Auburn, where she is continuing the protocol USCF started her on a few weeks ago. While we are hopeful, she remains immobile and unable to swallow.

Our prayer is that she will soon regain the ability to swallow, allowing us to discharge her and transition to a functional medicine facility like Brio Medical in Arizona or even at home, where she can receive holistic treatment with fewer harsh side effects. This next step in her recovery will be critical, but it is also very very costly.

Nana’s daughter, Helena, has been by her side full-time (she cannot be alone in her condition) which has made it impossible for Helena to work (having her own skincare business), adding financial strain on top of the mounting medical expenses. We are also struggling to cover essential expenses, like the family’s mortgage, while focusing on Nana’s care.

The funds will go toward:

*Treatment at a functional medicine facility like Brio Medical

*Helping with the family’s living expenses, including the mortgage

*Ongoing medical bills
