I hope this finds you well. My name is Nana. I’ve been sexually, physically, mentally, and verbally abused in my household for as long as I can remember. As a result, I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD and an anxiety disorder. In 2019, I survived my suicide attempt and ran away by going to college.

Since I broke contact with my abusive mother, I have been supporting myself financially for a while now. I work two jobs, I take 6 classes, and I have to complete 200 hours of an internship to graduate. I am burnt out, depressed, and I only get support from friends and mutuals online. I am also facing homelessness as my father struggles with alcoholism and isn’t reliable in the slightest. I don’t know where I’m going to live after graduation.

I am now a senior in college and I am on the deans list. I’m doing a major in Social Work (I want to be an advocate for sexual assault survivors) with a minor in Women’s Studies (as you can see on my insta page, I do a lot of activism for marginalized women). I plan to finish my Bachelor’s and go straight into my Masters so that I can begin my career of helping women and children who suffer as I do.

Due to delinquency, Sallie Mae has canceled my loan and I now owe the school $2,185 before I can get my degree. The degree I’ve been working my ass off for— the degree that’ll help my independence from that abusive household.

I’ve never been too shy to ask for help. I’ve been “over sharing” on the internet for quite a while now because I know once the right person sees it, it may change my situation. I need help to finish my degree, finance myself through the master's program, and find a safe place to live. I also want to continue to do my annual events like my SlutWalk & Slut Seminar as it serves as safe haven for marginalized women and non-men. The community is growing and evolving, and it’s the reason I’m still alive.
