Hello Community,

I’m writing this story on behalf of my sister, Namio X. It is my hope to raise some funds for her to get back on her feet after having a life changing spinal surgery.

In August 2024, my sister was moving furniture into our new home and suffered a back injury immediately afterward. Since she works a job that is physically involved(requires lifting bending, traveling back and forth in a large warehouse space, being on her feet for hours) the injury exacerbated over time. There were times she couldn’t leave her room or even stand, yet alone to work in that sort of environment.

In December of 2024, she was admitted to a local hospital and the resident surgeon told us her back scans show “the largest herniated disk” he’s ever seen in 20+ years in neurosurgery — they had to operate immediately. She was lucky to get to the ER when she did as even waiting a few more days could have led to possibly led to losing the ability to walk.

While the surgery was a success, Namio has missed out on thousands in income opportunities due to the severity of the injury and is now falling behind trying to catch up. While it is never a "good" time to get surgery, this occurred during the busiest work season for Namio. Also due to unforeseen complications with surgery, some of the work she has always been able to rely on is no longer available to her. This along with the extra expenses that come post surgery have completely wiped any finances she had left and now for the first time in her life she is behind on rent. She has been working n

We understand the current economy is downward and folks are struggling universally. This is quite the ask at this time. However, any and all donations would mean the world to her.

As an advocate for marginalized communities, Namio often does all in her power to uplift others through various panels, performances and collaborations. We hope that this community and beyond will be able to uplift her in this time of need.
