Help Muhammad’s Family Access Clean Food, Water & Education

Donation protected
Salam Everyone, My name is Malaika Malik.

I’ve created this GoFundMe for two reasons.

1. To raise your attention to this struggling family and explain their story
2. I’d like to ask for YOUR help in supporting them

This family lives in a small town named Banjul in The Gambia, West Africa. The family is led by a 19-year old boy named Muhammad. Muhammad is the eldest son of the family, with seven younger siblings and their single mother. They live in extreme poverty, struggling every day just to survive. They don’t know when they will get their next meal, going days without one at times.

They don’t have access to clean drinking water. They have limited food supplies. The children are unable to receive the education they deserve and need. They are unable to afford tuition fees, uniforms, Quran books, all necessary for a thorough islamic education. Overall, they lack basic living essentials us humans need to survive people.

Muhammad carries the weight of providing for his single mother and siblings alone, but his resources are extremely limited.

Let me offer a bit of a backstory.

I met Muhammad 2 months ago through instagram. At first, I was skeptical and almost turned him away. I judged him too quickly, figured he was trying to scam me and was close to turning away but, my gut kept telling me to give him a chance. Why?
Well, his page was full of islamic and hopeful posts, a few low quality photos of a poorly constructed, unfinished masjid, his sibling fetching water from a mud slide and a photo of what seemed to be a hole in the ground with a bucket, used to reel in water. His follower count low but following count high. I wasn’t fully convinced until he, with consent, directly reached out by video calling me, explaining his situation and sending me photos and videos. I saw, first hand that this man was not lying. After seeing their reality, their struggle, I felt inclined to help and started communicating more frequently with him on WhatsApp. Just like that, it has now been 3 months of me helping this family and each time I donate and support them, in return they shower me in heartfelt dua’s and prayers, they show me exactly where my money is being put to use and now, always have smiles on their faces. I tell you this to assure you that your sadaqah will help a family that is truly, truly in need of your support. In return they will assure you, with proof, that your sadaqah is being put to good use in’sha’Allah.

Follow along on my social media platforms, you can follow as I keep stories updated on the impact your sadaqah will have. Rest assured my friends, this is a meaningful project and can make such a difference.

My brothers and sisters this family is in need of basic survival, but also of dignity. They deserve a life where they don’t have to struggle just to make it through another day. I’ve been helping this family for sometime but unfortunately, I am not able to support them to the full extent due to my own financial circumstances. I believe a family like this deserves more recognition and support than me alone. I want Muhammad and his family to be known and supported by as many people as possible. Wallahi my brothers and sisters, they would cry from hunger during Ramadan because they did not have any food or water to close and open their fast. This broke my heart everyday, they were shameful to ask me and I was shameful that I couldn’t give them more. That all changes now.

This is where YOU fit in.

When you donate, every dollar you give is more than just a donation — it’s an act of mercy, an act of hope, and an act of faith. When we help, we are fulfilling our duty as brothers and sisters, not just in faith but as human beings. Every dollar is sadaqah-e-jariyah — an ongoing charity that will nourish, protect, and educate this family. Your donation, big or small, will go 100% directly toward supporting this family of 9 with essential needs like food, clean water, education, and basic supplies.

Here’s a more thorough breakdown of why my current goal is $3000 for the year:

- Food: $150/month x 12 = $1,800
Covers essential food items for the entire family to eat daily.

- Clean Water Access: $25/month x 12 = $300
Ensures Access to clean drinking water & safe hygiene.

- Education: $50/month x 12 = $600
Purchasing books, uniforms, supplies for 7 children.

- Essentials: $25/month x 12 = $300
Clothing, Hygiene, Emergencies, etc.

This amount is still considered less, I anticipated $4,500, considering there are 9 people in this beautiful family however, we must start somewhere.

And as for my non-Muslim brothers and sisters seeing this — please remember, you don’t need to be Muslim to help Muhammad and his family. Help in any way you can. Donate, share, and speak up. Compassion has no boundaries, and your support matters just as much. This is bigger than me. It’s bigger than us. It’s about showing this family that they are not forgotten, that the world sees their struggle and is ready to stand with them.

Please, join me in making a real difference in Muhammad’s life, his siblings’ lives, and the life of their mother. We are their hope.
May Allah reward you for every act of kindness, and may He bless you abundantly, both in this life and in the hereafter. Ameen.
