Nala is a one-year-old rescue puppy with a big heart and an even bigger spirit. I adopted her from Shelter from the Storm in Madison, Wisconsin, after she was abandoned and left in rough shape. When I first brought her home, she weighed less than 20 pounds and had already endured a lot—her ears were cropped, her dew claws removed, and she was struggling to get by. With time, care, and love, Nala has blossomed into a happy, energetic puppy who loves meeting new people and dogs. She’s always ready to make a new friend and her playful personality brings joy to everyone she meets. Training is still a work in progress, but her good spirit shines through every day.

Unfortunately, Nala was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia in both of her front legs. This condition causes her daily pain and limits her ability to run, jump, and play like a normal puppy. She’s already on pain medication, which is heartbreaking to see at such a young age. I started insurance for her, but because she was seen for her leg issues before the policy began, her treatment is not covered. Watching her struggle is incredibly difficult, and I want nothing more than to give her the chance at a pain-free, happy life.
