Hi everyone, this is Nala Mae! She is an 6 month old Female American Staffordshire Terrier. She was spayed on December 17th, of this year. Nala shortly after, got sick on December 24th, Christmas Eve. She started out throwing up all her food and not keeping anything down. Unfortunately, her normal vet was closed, so we tried to give her a couple days to maybe feel better. Nala’s symptoms progressively got worse. We couldn’t wait any longer for her original vet to open, so we took other routes to take her to West Greenwich Animal Hospital on December 26th, 2024. Nala Mae received injection fluids under her skin, Cerenia (anti nausea) and X-RAYS. She stopped eating and drinking. We took her back to the vet the next day, December 27th because she was not getting better. She then received IV fluids, a second round of X-RAYS, and more Cerenia. Last night she still wouldn’t eat, drink, or use the bathroom. This morning Nala Mae woke up and was even worse. She wouldn’t get up, breathing rapidly, and was drooling all over the place. She eventually got up and projectile vomited stomach bile all over the floor. We then rushed her to the first Animal Emergency hospital, where unfortunately they couldn’t perform an ultrasound. We then had to travel farther to go to another Emergency Vet in Weymouth, Mass. Nala Mae finally received an ultrasound and they discovered a foreign object in her small intestine. She then received emergency surgery to remove the object. Unfortunately no one ever sees an emergency coming. Nala Mae racked up a whole $10,000 for mommy and daddy to pay.
