Hello my beautifuls,
The time has come for me to be super vulnerable and kindly ask for your help. Over the years, my inner circle and social media community have shown up for me in every way possible. Now I’m asking for the biggest request I’ve ever made.
As you all know, my 7 year old golden retriever Nala is one part of my whole world. If you know me or have been following me, you’ll know how much she means to me. She quite literally gave me purpose and a reason to keep going in some of my darkest times, so asking for help for her feels like the least I can do for her now.
Nala has recently been seen by the vet due to swelling in her mammary glands and other symptoms that may indicate an underlying hormonal condition called Cushing’s disease. At this stage, nothing is confirmed, and we are still in the diagnostic process, but it is strongly suspected based on her clinical signs.
The next important step is a specific diagnostic test for Cushing’s disease, which costs around £450. This will help determine whether she has this condition and guide the correct treatment plan going forward.
If confirmed, Nala would likely require lifelong medication and regular monitoring, as well as further treatment once stabilised. This would include procedures such as spaying and imaging (including chest X-rays) to fully assess and manage her condition safely.
At the moment, Nala cannot safely be spayed to address the mammary gland changes until any underlying hormonal condition is stabilised. This is why getting clarity from these tests is so important.
I do have insurance for Nala, but I am currently unsure what will be covered at this stage, and the upfront cost of testing is something I am struggling with while we wait for answers. This condition, if confirmed, will also involve ongoing monthly medication and regular blood tests for the rest of her life.
I’ve set this fundraiser up to help cover her immediate diagnostic costs and early treatment steps while we get clarity on her condition. I have already paid for initial tests last week, and I would happily spend my last penny on her—but I would be lying if I said I didn’t need a bit of help right now.
Any support, no matter how small, would mean the absolute world to us. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would also help massively. I have read every single message with tears in my eyes and so much gratitude in my heart.
Finally, if there are any funds left over after Nala’s care, they will be donated to a dog charity in her name so that any kindness shown can continue helping other dogs in need.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving Nala as much as we all do.
Love Kadie, Nala, Ozzie (the trio) and the resr of our family.
