Nala is my sweet baby girl who is 11-years old and is in urgent need of radioactive iodine treatment to cure her hyperthyroidism. For over a year I have been working with our local veterinary hospital to find the right treatment for Nala’s condition but she has had severe reactions to both oral and topical treatments. Because of the severity of her hyperthyroidism it has been decided by her veterinarian that the best option for her is radioactive iodine treatment which will require 3-5 days of hospitalization and aftercare to monitor her kidney function because hyperthyroidism often masks kidney disease.
