Hi! I’m Nala, and after months of dreaming, refreshing email inboxes, and losing just a little hope—I’ve officially accepted my offer to attend the University of St. Andrews in Scotland this fall!
And let me tell you… this story is wild.
For weeks, I waited (impatiently) for a response from St. Andrews. Nothing came. Radio silence. So, I decided to move on. I booked a trip to visit my other top university choices in the UK. Bags packed, itinerary locked in, and brain trying its best to move on...
Then magic happened.
Literally hours before getting on the plane, I got an email—my offer from St. Andrews had arrived! Just like that, the door opened. And as if that wasn’t crazy enough, when we decided to add a visit to St. Andrews, guess what?
It just happened to be the official Visiting Day for accepted students.
I walked into this stunning, historic university and was welcomed like it was exactly where I was meant to be. I met the professors. I chatted with current students. I even sat through a real university class. It wasn’t just a good fit—it was love at first sight.
So What’s the Catch?
Well… Scotland isn’t exactly next door.
And attending as an international student comes with a pretty serious price tag.
Because St. Andrews doesn’t accept U.S. federal aid, the financial lift is heavier. Tuition, housing, student visa fees, travel, academic materials, and (let’s be real) the occasional rainproof jacket—it all adds up quickly.
I’ve done everything I can to keep this dream moving forward—and my family is doing everything they can too. But to make this happen, we still need to raise $20,000 before I board that plane on September 3, 2025.
What Your Support Covers
Every donation—big, small, or wonderfully in-between—goes toward:
- My tuition deposit and academic fees
- Visa application and immigration costs
- Travel and airfare from California to Scotland
- Housing deposits and essential living supplies
- The actual school stuff—books, materials, etc.
This isn’t just about getting there. This is about starting off strong, feeling supported, and making the absolute most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Why This Means So Much
St. Andrews isn’t just a dream school—it’s a place where I feel like I truly belong. I’ll be studying Medieval History and Theology, and I can’t wait to dive deep into my field, challenge myself, and soak up every moment of this experience.
I’ve worked hard to get here. I plan to give it my all.
But right now, I’m asking for a little help to get across the finish line—and across the Atlantic.
How You Can Help
Donate anything you can. Even $5 helps more than you know!
Share this campaign with friends, family, coworkers, or anyone who loves a good “it was meant to be” story.
Follow along! I’ll be posting updates, photos, and probably a few nerdy observations from my new life in Scotland.
From the bottom of my quirky, grateful, slightly overwhelmed heart—
thank you for being part of my journey.
Let’s make this real. Let’s get me to St. Andrews.
With gratitude and giddy excitement,
Nala
