Help Nala Beat Cancer: Support Her Surgery
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
We adopted our pup Nala about 5 years ago from Korean K9 Rescue when she was 6 months old and had just gotten off of a long plane ride from Korea. Nala is our first dog and she has absolutely changed our lives in such positive ways. Nala has brought so much unconditional love to our lives that we can't imagine life without her. Nala loves to chase squirrels, look out our windows, go on long walks and hikes, and to snuggle in bed with her toys, right in between us. Nala has also kept me company day in and day out while I studied for school, and I probably couldn't have made it without her love and companionship.
We have experienced so many adventures and new experiences with her and watching her grow into the amazing dog she is today has been the experience of a lifetime.
Unfortunately, Arisa noticed a growth on Nala's lower gum a month ago. Nala underwent surgery in early August and had the majority of the growth removed, however, the vet called us back about a week later and we found out that it was a cancerous Fibrosarcoma. Luckily the cancer has not yet spread anywhere else in her body, but because there was a deep margin and not all of the tumor could be removed with the first surgery, Nala now needs to undergo another surgery with a specialist to completely remove it.
After consultation with our vet and with the specialist, the best option is to remove a piece of her jaw in order to completely remove the remaining cancer. As you probably know, I just finished nursing school and have only been working per-diem while in school for the last year and a half. The cost of the upcoming surgery Nala is going to have, on top of the cost of her first surgery, is quite a large financial strain on us.
If you are able to help Nala have this surgery, we would really appreciate it and would be forever thankful. We are hoping that since she is a younger pup, she'll bounce back to her happy, playful, curious self! We can't imagine not having Nala and her wet nose and big smile in our lives and we are committed to do what it takes to keep her with us while maintaining an amazing quality of life for her.
We love you all and Nala does too!
