A Family Trapped in Gaza: No Food. No Shelter. No Strength Left. Please Help.
My name is Khaled, a Palestinian Canadian living in Canada. I am launching this campaign for my aunt, Najla Mahmoud Abu Hatab, and her family, seven people fighting for their lives in southern Gaza with no home, no food, and no medical care.
When I first began helping them, the goal was to evacuate them from Gaza.
But the situation has worsened beyond anything we imagined. Now the goal is survival. Just survival.
They lost their home. Now they’re losing their health—day by day.
Najla’s family lived in Al-Qalaa Towers in Khan Younis. But months ago, they were ordered to evacuate. A short time later, Israeli airstrikes destroyed the towers completely. They lost everything.
They’ve been living in a makeshift tent between Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah, in one of the most dangerous and overcrowded areas of Gaza. There is no shelter, no security, no aid.
When I last spoke to my aunt, she told me they hadn’t eaten in four days. Neither had the children.
There is no food.
Even if they had money, there’s almost nothing to buy, and if they do manage to find something, the price is 10 to 20 times higher than normal.
They are starving, and even bread has become a luxury they can’t afford.
This war has already taken from us. Now it's trying to take what little remains.
In the early days of the war, we lost someone we deeply loved my aunt, Nima, Najla’s brother. She was killed during one of the attacks. Her death devastated our entire family.
Najla hasn’t had the chance to grieve. She didn’t even get to say goodbye. There was no funeral, no closure, just one more life gone in silence, and one more burden on a heart that’s already carrying too much.
This is the reality they face:
- Rafat, Najla’s son, is disabled and has cancer. He has lost most of his eyesight. His condition is deteriorating, and he urgently needs surgery abroad.
- Riham, Najla’s daughter, recently gave birth. Her baby is now around nine months old, but both mother and child are suffering from severe malnutrition. Riham is unable to breastfeed or care for her child properly because she herself is too weak and undernourished.
- Najla, despite her age and condition, is now caring for her sick daughter, her grandchild, and her disabled son, while also trying to protect her other children: Ahmad, Hala, and Lian.
- Two family members are now unable to walk or move due to weakness caused by starvation.
- Her husband, Hassan, is doing his best, but the family is physically and emotionally collapsing under the weight of this war.
They are trapped. There is no way out. Every day without food brings them closer to the edge.

عائلة محاصرة في غزة: لا طعام، لا مأوى، لا قدرة على الصمود... الرجاء المساعدة
اسمي خالد، فلسطيني كندي أعيش في كندا. أُطلق هذه الحملة لمساعدة عمتي، نجلاء محمود أبو حطب، وعائلتها—سبعة أشخاص يصارعون للبقاء على قيد الحياة في جنوب غزة بلا مأوى، بلا طعام، وبلا دواء.
عندما بدأت مساعدتهم، كان الهدف هو إخراجهم من غزة.
لكن الأمور تدهورت بشكل كارثي. الهدف الآن هو البقاء فقط. البقاء على قيد الحياة.
فقدوا منزلهم... واليوم يفقدون صحتهم يومًا بعد يوم
كانت العائلة تسكن في أبراج القلعة بخان يونس، لكن تم إجلاؤهم بأمر عسكري. وبعد فترة قصيرة، تم قصف الأبراج بالكامل وفقدوا كل شيء.
منذ ذلك الوقت، يعيشون في خيمة مؤقتة بين خان يونس ودير البلح، وهي من أخطر وأشد المناطق ازدحامًا في غزة. لا مأوى، لا أمان، لا مساعدات.
عندما تحدثت مع عمتي آخر مرة، أخبرتني أنهم لم يأكلوا منذ أربعة أيام. ولا حتى الأطفال.
لا يوجد طعام. وحتى إن وُجد، فإن سعره أصبح أغلى بـ10 إلى 20 مرة من السعر العادي.
العائلة تتضور جوعًا، وحتى الخبز أصبح ترفًا لا يمكنهم الحصول عليه.
هذه الحرب سرقت منا الكثير... والآن تحاول سرقة ما تبقى
في بداية الحرب، فقدنا إنسانًا عزيزًا جدًا على قلوبنا — عمتي، نعمة ، شقيقة نجلاء.
استُشهدت في إحدى الغارات، وتركت فراغًا وألمًا لا يوصف.
نجلاء لم تستطع حتى أن تودّعها. لم يكن هناك جنازة، ولا وداع، فقط حياة أخرى انتهت في صمت، وحزن آخر على قلبٍ أنهكته الخسائر.
وهذه هي المأساة التي يواجهونها اليوم:
رأفت، ابنها، يعاني من السرطان، وهو معاق وضعيف البصر. حالته تتدهور، ويحتاج إلى جراحة عاجلة في الخارج.
ريهام، ابنتها، أنجبت طفلًا قبل حوالي تسعة أشهر. الأم وطفلها يعانيان من سوء تغذية حاد، ولا تستطيع إرضاعه أو العناية به بسبب ضعفها الشديد.
نجلاء، رغم ظروفها الصحية، أصبحت الآن ترعى ابنتها المريضة، وحفيدها، وابنها المريض بالسرطان، إلى جانب أطفالها الآخرين: أحمد، هلا، وليان.
اثنان من أفراد العائلة أصبحوا غير قادرين على الحركة بسبب الجوع.
زوجها، حسن، يبذل ما بوسعه، لكن العائلة تنهار.
لماذا أطلب مساعدتكم؟
