Hello everyone. Anyone that knows me or has been around me knows I am not the type to ask for anything, but this situation is different. Today, I am not asking for help for myself, my wife, or our family, but for our beautiful daughter, Nairobi Naia Rodriguez, who is only 1 month old. From the day Nairobi was born, our lives have been filled with joy, memories, and excitement. There’s never a dull moment with her as we take on the journey of parenting. While it is true that my baby is healthy and was born healthy, Nairobi was born and diagnosed at birth with microphthalmia of her left eye, meaning her left eye did not fully develop. We have learned that she also has hypoplasia of her left optic nerve and may not ever see out of her left eye. We are still in the early stages of understanding what this journey will look like, but we already know it will be a long one filled with specialist visits, procedures, and travel for care she cannot get close to home. We are preparing to take her to Houston in April to see a specialist and to begin treatment that will help her tiny face grow the way it should. We have insurance, and we are grateful for that. But the road ahead—the travel, the time away from work, the costs that insurance doesn’t cover, and the things we cannot yet predict—is real. And for the first time in my life, I am asking for help, not for me, but for my beautiful baby girl. Nairobi did not ask for this. She just showed up, perfect in every way that matters, ready to fight just like her mom and dad. The least we can do is fight just as hard for her. Every dollar contributed will go directly toward her medical care, travel to specialists, and making sure she has everything she needs to thrive. If you are unable to give, we completely understand—a share, a prayer, or a kind word means just as much to us. Thank you for loving our little girl.
