Nahla is 4 years old, she will turn 5 on July 31st. I have had her since she was old enough to be adopted. I got her through Colonial Capital humane society. My friends adopted her sister, Sephora, short after so she had a playmate growing up! She is a very energetic high energy pup. She LOVES to play ball and splash in her pool all summer long. Recently I found out from her vet in beaufort that she has torn her left ACL and that her right one was going to be a "future" injury based on the looks of her knee on xrays. Apparently that would be sooner than later as she is now limping on both legs. Most days she is non weight bearing on her left leg completely because of pain. She stays up panting most nights uncomfortable and just restless. We were referred to an orthopedic surgeon in Wilmington nc who has given me an estimation of about $6,000 to do the surgery on her left leg. She needs plates and screws and it will be an 8 week recovery period. As the 6k is only covering one leg, I will have to come up with an additional $6,000 to have her right leg operated on as well. Whether they can be done at the same time or have to be separate I am not sure yet. She is not allowed to jump, play, run anything at the moment. Being such a high energy dog and so young it really has not been a fun time for her. I cannot stand to see her uncomfortable or in pain. She is currently taking gabbapentin and carprofen to help control her pain while i try to get her surgery scheduled. They do not except payment plans and they require 80% of the cost up front and the day of. I am working my hardest with 2 jobs to come up with everything that I can unfortunately $12,000 is a lot of money to most people these days. I completely understand if you are not able to donate. I just ask for prayers for Nahla and to PLEASE share this with as many people as you can. Anything and everything will help. I just don't want to see my baby girl suffer anymore. I cannot wait for the day she can play her favorite game of fetch again or go swimming in her pool. I just cannot fathom the thought of putting my 4 year old pup to sleep because I am unable to afford the surgeries she needs. I appreciate each and everyone of you! Thank you for sharing Nahlas story and taking the time to read this.
