Hello, my name is Nada and I'm 19 years old. I always wanted to become a fashion designer. I have been drawing and designing clothes for most of my life. But I was born in Gaza City and cut off from most of the world. The ongoing genocide has made my dream next to impossible, but I still draw. Designing clothes gives me purpose when the world is burning around me.
Israel bombed my home. Even if the war were to end, I have nowhere to go. Everything is gone. The kitchen where I helped my mom cook, the place where I watched my siblings grow up, the rooms that hold some of my dearest memories are gone. I have nowhere safe to go in the city I was born in.
The green circle is where my home was.
Getting my high school diploma is not a right, but a dream. Returning to class is something that I have dreamed of for more than two years. Education has become my only way forward. As much as I love my city, I need to leave. I can't become a designer here. I, as much as any 19 year old, deserve a chance to realise my dreams. Help me take a step towards achieving them.
I am still drawing and will not give up.
