I am Nada from the northern Gaza Strip. I was forced to leave my house without taking anything from the house due to the force of the bombing on October 8, 2023, by the occupation. Warning messages were sent to us and we were displaced for the first time from my city of Beit Hanoun to the Jabalia camp area. It was on foot and we walked a very long distance. The bombing was on our heads and we were seeing everything in front of us. We were present in the area of Al-Ternis that was bombed. Thank God, my family and I survived it. After five days, we were forced to move again to the areas beyond Wadi, Gaza. We were displaced to Deir Al-Balah and lived in shelters for the displaced in a very small area.
There were many days when we could hardly find food or flour, and many nights we slept without food due to the interruption of products and the rise in their prices due to the war. Our house was bombed three weeks after we left it, and all our memories of it and our belongings were gone.
The occupation deprived us of everything, our home, our land, and our simple life, even my university. By completely destroying it, they have completely destroyed our future.
Now that a ceasefire has been announced, we are preparing to return to the location of our home which has been destroyed. We face a large and costly task in rebuilding it, as do many others. We are hoping for the generosity of others to help us to do so.
I hope you don't blame us, as the damage to us has become severe. With your support and help, you can take us to safety. Thank you for understanding.
