Help Nabila Get a Lifesaving Double Lung Transplant

My mother is slowly losing the ability to breathe. Her name is Nabila, and she now has only 25% lung capacity. Every breath is a struggle, and doctors have told us that a double lung transplant is her only real chance at a second chance at life.

My name is Camillia, and I’m her daughter. Our family is very small—just my mother, my brother, and me. My mother has been our entire world for as long as I can remember. When our father left us when we were young, she carried the full weight of raising two children alone. She worked, sacrificed, and fought through every hardship to make sure we were safe and cared for.

When my brother and I were very young, we moved abroad, where our father became abusive and eventually abandoned us completely. My mother faced everything alone while trying to protect and raise two small children. Despite how difficult life became, she never stopped fighting for us. She saved every penny she could and eventually brought us back to the United States so we could start over and have a better future. We began again in a small apartment with very little, but we were grateful just to be safe together.

What we didn’t know at the time was that the apartment we lived in had severe black mold. Over the years, that exposure destroyed my mother’s lungs. She slowly became sicker and sicker until doctors discovered the damage was permanent. Her lungs are now failing. Today, she is on the transplant list and urgently needs a double lung transplant in California. When the call comes that lungs are available, we will have to leave immediately.

Even through all of this, my mother is still full of life. She lights up every room she walks into. She’s the kind of person people lean on when they’re struggling—the shoulder others cry on, the one who brings comfort just by being there. She has the most beautiful soul—genuinely kind, selfless, and giving. She’s the type of person who would give her last to someone else without thinking twice. That’s who she is, even now while she’s fighting just to breathe.

This surgery is her chance to keep living—to have that second chance at life. The financial burden of this situation is overwhelming. Even though we all work full time including herself (I’m not sure how she does it she genuinely amazes me) The funds we raise will help cover her transplant-related medical costs, medications, transportation to California, and a place for us to stay during her surgery and recovery.

My mother spent her entire life sacrificing everything for her children and still is even when she’s supposed to be on hospice. She survived abandonment, hardship, and years of struggle just to give us a chance at a better life. Now she is fighting for her own life. I cannot imagine a world without my mother.

We are asking for any help you can give. Every donation, no matter the size, truly matters. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page could help us reach someone who can. Your kindness could help give my mother the chance to breathe again.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
