Help Mysty Keep Her Son Alive
Support for Andrew DeLong’s Leukemia Fight
Hi, my name is Tiereny Craker, and I am reaching out with a heart full of love and an urgent plea for help for two people who mean the world to me.
On January 24, 2025, life changed forever for Mysty and her 11-year-old son, ( at the time he is now 12 Years Old) Andrew.
One week, Andrew was just a normal kid complaining of back pain and having a few nosebleeds. Days later, Mysty was being rushed into the pediatric bone marrow transplant unit at UW Children’s Hospital, where she saw her child lying in a hospital bed covered in wires and tubes, while doctors spoke words no parent should ever have to hear.
Andrew was diagnosed with childhood leukemia.
Since that day, life has become a nonstop cycle of chemotherapy, surgeries, bone marrow biopsies, blood and platelet transfusions, emergency room visits, and even helicopter med flights. Andrew has been poked, prodded, and hospitalized more times than we can count, all while fighting for his life with a bravery no child should ever need.
And through all of this, Mysty has never left his side.
️ Why We’re Asking for Help
Mysty is Andrew’s only caretaker. She is not just his mom. She is his nurse, his advocate, his transportation to every appointment, his comfort through pain and nausea, and his strength when he is too weak to have any of his own.
Because of Andrew’s condition, Mysty has been unable to work. Caring for a child with cancer is a full-time job that comes with no paycheck, no days off, and no safety net.
They have already had a benefit in their local community, but cancer does not pause bills. Rent, utilities, gas for constant trips to Madison, food during long hospital stays, and unpaid bills continue to pile up. The financial stress is heavy and relentless.
Mysty has always been hardworking, proud, and self-sufficient. Asking for help does not come easily to her. But this is bigger than pride. And she should not have to face this alone.
What Andrew Has Endured So Far
• Diagnosed with leukemia on January 24
• Multiple bone marrow biopsies
• Port surgery for chemotherapy access
• Started chemotherapy on January 25 and continues weekly treatments
• Emergency helicopter med flight due to complications
• Severe allergic reaction during a transfusion where she almost lost him
• Numerous blood transfusions and platelet transfusions
• Ongoing hospital stays for fevers, infections, and high-risk monitoring
Andrew has not been able to attend school, see friends, or do the things he loves like camping, swimming, wrestling, or even playing with his dog.
No sports.
No playing barefoot.
No hugging his dog or friends.
Just medications, restrictions, uncertainty, and far too much time in hospital beds.
He is lonely. And so is his mom. But none of that matters as long as he is being cared for and kept alive.
Important Medical Update
Andrew has been hospitalized since December 9th after spiking a fever that would not resolve.
Since this hospital stays began:
• He has required platelet transfusions every other day
• He has needed multiple blood transfusions
• He has been diagnosed with C. diff, a serious intestinal infection
• He is struggling to eat and has lost over 10 pounds
• His ANC is completely gone, leaving him with virtually no immune system
• He continues to spike fevers, keeping him hospitalized and high risk
Prior to this admission, Andrew also required IVIG transfusions to help support his immune system, in addition to frequent blood and platelet transfusions from weekly lab work.
This situation is critical and ongoing.
A Mother’s Strength and a Cry for Support
Mysty does not complain. She does not ask for handouts. She is the mom who works double shifts, never misses important moments, and somehow makes everything work.
Now, she is watching her child fight for his life while worrying about keeping a roof over their heads.
They do not splurge. They do not travel. They do not ask for anything.
Right now, they simply need help staying afloat so Mysty can keep doing what only she can do: protect her son and keep him alive.
How You Can Help
Donations will help cover:
• Rent and utilities
• Gas for ongoing trips to Madison
• Food and essentials during extended hospital stays
• Unpaid bills caused by the inability to work
• A small amount of breathing room in the middle of an unthinkable nightmare
If you are unable to donate, please share this story. Every share matters more than you know.
The Road Ahead
Andrew’s treatment plan changes every 28 days. New medications. New side effects. New risks.
He takes 13 or more medications daily, some multiple times a day. His immune system is fragile, and hospitalizations can happen without warning.
This is not a sprint. It is a long, exhausting marathon.
And they need a village.
Please Know
This is the ONLY legitimate GO FUND ME fundraiser for Andrew DeLong.
This fundraiser is being managed by me, Tiereny Craker.
There is a spotfund fundraiser that we tried to use but it does not seem to be getting the traffic it needs to get to make this be successful.
If you need verification, proof, or have any questions at all, you are welcome to text me directly Go Fund me will provide the cell number to reach out. I am happy to provide anything you need.
Venmo or additional donation options can also be provided upon request.
Mysty did not want to start a fundraiser from the get go. She hoped things would improve and that she could return to work. That is no longer the reality. This is what has to be done to help them survive this chapter.
We see these fundraisers do life changing things for people and I just hope so big that this can help eliminate some of the chaos for these two!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, praying, and supporting this family during the fight of their lives.
