Mystic Moon has been central to the heart and soul of Riding Beyond since 2013, offering comfort and healing to hundreds of breast cancer survivors and those recovering from trauma, following the impacts of COVID, local wildfires, and other environmental trauma. Her gentle presence and remarkable abilities have drawn people to our core 4-week sessions, our weekly meditation circle and our seasonal Saturday sessions, where for many, she is more than just a horse—she is a source of hope and transformation.
In April 2025, Mystic Moon developed a sarcoid tumor on her side. While not life-threatening on its own, the tumor has required intensive treatment to prevent dangerous infections, especially with the challenges of flies and environmental toxins. So far, her care has included twice daily medications for the past 8 months, and biweekly cryotherapy since October at our veterinary hospital. Costs are already significant and will continue as her treatment progresses through the winter. Mystic has shown incredible patience and resilience, enduring uncomfortable procedures with grace as we work toward remission before springtime arrives.
Your support of Mystic at this time will not only be important to her healing but will ease one aspect of the stress that accompanies our daily caregiving efforts. Your commitment, along with ours, to support her continuing, slow recovery is a major part of the healing journey—a piece where your support can make a huge difference.
Thank you for helping Mystic Moon continue her work as a beacon of hope and healing for so many.
Riding Beyond is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, providing equine-assisted human development for trauma recovery.
