Help Mystery Machine with her Mystery illness

I never thought I’d be here, writing this. I’m usually the one helping others, not the one asking for help. But right now, I’m desperate.

My sweet girl, The Mystery Machine – “Middy”, is more than just a dog. She’s my retired medical alert partner, my best friend, and the one who has carried me through the hardest, darkest parts of my life. When I felt completely alone in the world, she was the one who stayed. She’s been my safe place, my reason to keep going, and my constant companion through everything.

In July, Middy suddenly got very sick. After countless tests, we learned she had a double bacterial kidney infection. We started her on strong antibiotics, and for a little while it felt like we were turning a corner.

But then everything started to unravel. She developed a limp in her front legs, then a double ear infection. We treated those, but just a week later she had a stroke and had to be rushed to the emergency vet.

We were referred to neurology, but within two weeks she developed severe edema in her back legs. She began struggling to sit and stand, and soon after, she started to waste away. Despite endless tests, procedures, and medications, we still don’t have answers for what’s happening to her.

The last few weeks have been devastating. Middy has lost so much muscle and weight so fast that she can barely stand or walk on her own. Now she’s fighting a respiratory infection and small intestine issues, and she’s on doxycycline and prednisone while we wait for more test results.

Over the past few days, she’s stopped eating, and it feels like we’re running out of time. We’re trying everything — anything — to tempt her to eat, because she’s still fighting, and I need to fight for her too.

We’ve drained our savings on vet visits, emergency care, medications, procedures, and special foods. We’re exhausted — emotionally and financially — but I can’t give up on her. Middy has given me her whole life, her loyalty, her love. I owe her the same.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that I can’t stand by and do nothing. I’m asking for help so that we can keep giving Middy the care she needs and deserves. Every single dollar donated will go directly toward her tests, medications, treatments, and the foods we’re desperately trying to get her to eat.
