Help Myrna Avoid Eviction After Loss
Donation protected
My name is William and I'm here with the goal of helping my neighbor, Myrna, who is currently facing the threat of eviction from her apartment of nearly 20 years.
Myrna is a Black Queer woman in her mid-70s living in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. She immigrated to the U.S. as a young girl and never received her card, making it extremely difficult, high-risk, and scary to navigate social services, particularly with the current administration. In 2023, Myrna's wife tragically passed away due to heart complications, and with the passing of her wife and best friend, she also lost the social services and security benefits that her wife received for them. Myrna is unable to work, and since her wife's passing, Myrna has been in a constant battle with housing insecurity.
Myrna is one of the strongest women I know, but no one should have to deal with such insecurity and stress at her age. I'm really worried about her, and I'm asking all of you for your help and generosity. This last week, she received a notice of eviction unless she can pay $6000 to her landlords.
Costs will break down as follows:
- $6000 will go directly to the landlord to pay what's owed and prevent the eviction.
- $2000 will go towards ongoing living expenses such as electricity (very expensive as radiator heat does not work in the building) and ongoing rent.
100 people donating $60 each would cover the debt owed. Your help to make this happen is greatly appreciated by Myrna, myself, and all of her loved ones.
If you are unable to donate, I kindly ask you to share this fundraiser and help boost it. The more people we can reach, the higher the chance we can reach our goal. Your support will go directly to helping Myrna stay in her home.
Thank you kindly for all of your support and generosity.
