Help Myriah get Life Changing Surgery!
Myriah is my favorite human. I have known her for 12 years— since she was 17. She is one of the strongest, kindest, most hard working individuals I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Through her struggles, she has consistently kept her head up with a smile on her face. To know that she has been in pain most of her life is a crippling thought to the people that love her. Myriah’s reality is that beneath her spirited, hilarious demeanor... she conceals her chronic pain. Like a champ.
Well now she has an opportunity to heal her wounds, both physically and mentally. Please help me raise enough money so that she can have a life changing surgery and move on from the Trauma for good.
The growth plates in her jaw were damaged in her teens so they never fully developed. The part of her jaw that pops in to socket is only about 67% the size it should be on the left side and 75% on the right. Both discs in her jaw are completely detached. The displaced discs will eventually pinch off the blood vessels that feed blood to her jawbone/marrow, which would lead to bone deterioration, and then a total jaw reconstruction. She already has early onset arthritis on the left side. So unfortunately, none of this is optional.
Myriah’s surgery will be 5 hours long, as the disks have to be reconstructed almost completely. They'll be making an incision on her stomach to do something called a fat graft, and use some pulled fat to make the new discs for her jaw.
She will be out of commission for at least a month for the actual surgery, will have to wear a splint for a year, on a liquid/no chew diet for three months, and will have to go back every three months for check ups, splint adjustments, and scans to ensure it's healing well and staying in place... and likely some physical therapy.
Her surgery is scheduled for June 2021. It costs 45k, but her insurance covers a lot. Unfortunately she holds the responsibility for the remaining $8500-
$1000 to meet her deductible

$500 for the two day hospital stay
