Hi All!

I am Michelle and the mamma to a Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI) warrior, Myles!

Myles's BPI has affected his use of his entire right arm and hand function. Myles was stuck at birth and pulled out forcefully, which resulted in torn nerves. His injury has affected his right arm.

At 6 months old, Myles had nerve repair and replacement surgery. At 2.5, he had another surgery to reroute muscles to give him more range of motion.

Myles will never have full function of his right arm and hand. He will need to learn to live a life that is adaptable to him. Myles has been doing that since the time he was born. He has been in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy since 3 weeks old. He has put in the work.

The United Brachial Plexus Network offers a camp for kids like Myles and their families. This camp provides educational opportunities so we can learn more about this injury, as well as a way for Myles to meet kiddos like him and for us to connect with families who understand our journey!

Myles has won a $400 scholarship to attend in July 2026. We would love to make this happen for our family. While the scholarship takes some of that burden off, we are still paying off 2 surgeries and several therapy bills. We still need to come up with funds for the rest of camp as well as gas, as we do plan to drive.

Myles strives to be independent, often telling us, "Myles do it by his own!" He loves his dog Bandit. When he came to from surgery in the car on the way home, he asked, "Hey, where's Bandit!"

He loves to be affectionate, often asking, "Can I have a snuggle, please?"

And if you know him, then you know he loves books! His current favorites are Brown Bear, Brown Bear (any of the Bears in that series) and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
