Help Myjah Moon Recover from Open Heart Surgery
Donation protected
On Thursday, August 18th, exactly one week after her 32nd birthday, the marvelous Myjah Moon (Jessica) experienced a medical emergency while at work. Myjah is a child caregiver (among many other things) and while at work experienced what we now know to be an Aortic Dissection.
An aortic dissection is a severe condition of the heart in which a tear occurs in the inner layer of the body's main artery (aorta). Blood rushes through the tear, causing the inner and middle layers of the aorta to split (dissect). Aortic dissection is often deadly if the blood goes through the outside aortic wall.
Myjah’s aortic dissection was life-threatening. Myjah was received in the emergency room at Glendale Adventist Hospital and rushed into emergency surgery to repair her heart for 12 hours.
Myjah has been given an extensive recovery plan that requires up to 6 months of rehabilitation. During this time, she is not permitted to work. It is also unknown if she will be able to work gainfully again in her chosen fields. Myjah is currently uninsured and will be living with disabilities in the future.
Myjah needs financial support from us to cover:
• Monthly expenses during the time of recovery and rehabilitation (Los Angeles)
• Funding for immediate transportation to and from follow-up doctor’s visits
• Home care support (groceries, cleaning, cooking, delivery etc.)
• Immediate Mental health care
• Immediate Medical costs beyond the initial emergency
• Application support for government services
• Accessibility devices and living alterations
Please help Myjah recover from a literal broken heart if you can or share to spread the word.
