My name is Myama Locke. I am a tenant in home that I have been renting for 18 months and was not planning on moving at all. The owner of the home is selling the home, refuses to renew the lease and said I have to be out by May 31st. I am seeking help with closing out the lease, paying for moving expenses, and paying for the new apartment (deposit and first month's rent) that I have secured within the next 24 days. I do not want an eviction filed in court because I would lose all potential housing options and would ruin my credit. That is the only way I can get help from UCHC or even from DHHS. I questioned this process because I have never been evicted and am a hard working single adoptive mother. I have never needed help prior to this situation and have paid my rent as required no matter where I have lived. I am asking for help to move on such short notice for me and my family. I have secured housing but need the help before it ever rises to the need to have an eviction case filed. I just got a new job and work three contracted positions but was not prepared to move this fast. I asked the landlords, D Land Property Management, for more time, but they have refused my request. My family is at risk of eviction which will ruin our living situation and possibly cause us undue harm and stress. Please help me.
