Help Mya Cucci Bring Her Film to Life

Hello! My name is Mya Cucci and I am a film student who loves to write and direct. I am fundraising for a short film that I am very excited to be directing and producing this coming fall 2024.

Logline

A shy high-school boy who learns about an outreach program to write letters to inmates, starts an unlikely friendship with a young man in prison even though they have never met. Together they learn about and experience what life is like on the other side of the bars, as they get to know each other and relate to each others past and present.

Summary

A short film about unlikely friends…

Everett, a shy high-school boy lives at home with his seemingly close-knit family. Life is good until his family begins falling apart. A tragedy that his family could not pull through together ends up breaking the family up in divorce. Soon after, while at a Bible study Everett learns about the opportunity to write letters to inmates in prison. As the divorce gets more real, feeling lost and alone and with no real friends of his own, Everett decides to write one letter to a stranger in prison. Sparking an unlikely friendship between two people from completely opposite sides of life.

What the Funds will be Spent On

The funds that I raise will go towards paying actors, paying for locations, buying food for the cast and crew and buying props and wardrobe. Making films is very difficult and making low-budget films are even more difficult. Even though it will be a challenge to get everything organized and ready to shoot, I am excited and very ready to get started! Any money that I receive will be an incredible help towards making this project come to life!
