On Tuesday, 12/31/2019 in the early morning, David Schmidt arrived home from his shift as a Sergeant at the Seagoville Police Department to find his wife Lori Bell-Schmidt unconscious in their home in Red Oak. David called 911 and Lori was transported to Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie. The Doctors in Waxahachie immediately placed Lori on life support due to her not being able to breath on her own because her lungs were filling up with liquid. Lori did not show any improvement and the Doctors did not understand why so they ordered a CAT Scan. Doctors found a large mass on the side of Lori's head. Lori was immediately flown to Baylor Scott and White in Temple because that was the only hospital with a neuro surgeon with a bed for her at the time. The Doctors determined that Lori had multiple massive strokes and due to her being without oxygen to part of her brain for an extended period of time, part of Lori's brain had to be removed leaving behind a large amount of damage. Doctors performed a life saving surgery on Lori that was a success but she is still fighting for her life. Doctors are unsure the extent of damage done because they have not been able to remove the machine that helps her breath. Lori has a long road to recovery but she has always been a strong minded woman and a fighter. The medical bills are going to be extremely expensive due to this life changing event for Lori and her family.  For anyone that knows Lori and David, they are very kind people and would do anything for anyone.  Anyone that would be willing to donate for medical bills and treatment or say a prayer for Lori would be greatly appreciated, God bless.
