Hi, recently while in Italy for our two years delayed honeymoon, I got in a minor Vespa accident hitting the wall of a tunnel in the Almalfi coast, which broke my wife’s foot in 3 places. This is especially devastating as she walks for a living… She spent the day in a remote Italian hospital alone and frightened, unable to speak to anyone. After getting very little information, a makeshift cast, a prescription for the worlds worst crutches and ibuprofen, we were sent on our way. Followed by a treacherous 32 hour journey home, in which like a warrior she walked 2+ miles on those pathetic crutches through Italian train stations, 15 hours on 3 different planes, we made it home! Ever since she has been scrambling nonstop to save her dog walking & pet sitting business, Fuzz Baby Pet Care, which she has been building for a decade. She won’t be able to work for at least 2 months. We have had to go to two separate doctors as the first one we went to treated us like absolute garbage because we didn’t have insurance for him to scam, he tried to scam us anyways and gave us less answers than the Italian doctors. We finally found a great doctor, she broke 3 bones that are “very hard to break.” Her medical bills have been astronomical so far & are only rising, we are waiting on a MRI to see if she needs surgery. As we don’t have insurance, everything must be paid up front. To make matters worse, I must leave for a month to go on tour with my band The Well in just a few weeks, leaving her with no way to get anywhere as she can’t drive (right foot), no way to walk our dogs, do household chores, get to doctors appointments, basically any task that requires two feet. We are asking for any support you can give to help us cover medical bills, dog walkers, rides to the doctor and store, some kind of housekeeping, etc. Even if you don’t have a way to offer financial support, any gestures to support her while I’m gone would be so appreciated!! (Dog walks, rides to doctors appointments, a trip to the store, vacuum the house & other household chores, mowing the lawn, or even just a friendly visit to check in) This whole experience has been quite traumatic, but Aliya is handling it like a champ, especially for her first broken bones! Perhaps too much like a champ however as she is terrible at asking for help… which is why I am. Please help us get through these next few months!
