I’m reaching out for help for my incredible wife, who has been battling Lyme disease. She’s an amazing mom to our two little boys, but this illness has taken a huge toll on her health, energy, and daily life. Watching her struggle while still trying to be the best mom she can be has been heartbreaking.

We found out she had Lyme disease the very same week we learned she was pregnant with our second child. Since then, she hasn’t been able to receive proper treatment because so many of the necessary medications and therapies aren’t safe during pregnancy. Now, after months of pushing through for our baby and our family, she desperately needs care to start healing.

Many people think Lyme disease is just a rash and some flu-like symptoms, but it’s so much more than that. If left untreated or improperly treated, it can attack the nervous system, leading to severe neurological problems, chronic pain, extreme fatigue, cognitive issues, and so much more. My wife has been facing these debilitating symptoms every day, making even the simplest tasks feel impossible.

One of the hardest parts of this journey is watching our boys miss out on time with their mom. They don’t understand why she can’t always get up and play with them, chase them around the yard, or even sit and read a book without exhaustion setting in. They just want their mama back, and I want that for them more than anything.

We have been searching for grants and other financial assistance programs to help cover the cost of treatment, but we are having a hard time finding anything that applies to our situation. Unfortunately, the specialized care she needs is not covered by insurance, and we have to pay out of pocket. As a family, we are doing everything we can, but the costs are overwhelming.
