Help a Family in Jamaica Rebuild After Hurricane Melissa ️

Hi everyone, my name is Narmeen, and I’m asking for your help for a family who means so much to me.

Three weeks ago, Category 5 Hurricane Melissa tore through parts of Jamaica and left behind devastation that most of us will never see in our lifetime. Homes were destroyed. Roads washed away. Entire communities were left in darkness — no electricity, no water, no way to keep food from spoiling, and no way to work.

One of those families belongs to my virtual assistant, Okeera, who works with me every single day. She’s not just a team member — she’s family.

What Happened

When the hurricane hit, it wiped out her mother’s only source of income —
a chicken coop that she spent years building to support her household.

Overnight, everything was gone.

The family has now been living weeks without electricity, relying on neighbors, candles, and whatever food they can salvage before it spoils. Living on an island, getting supplies isn’t easy — what we take for granted (power, water, groceries, generators) can take days or weeks to arrive there, and always at a much higher cost.

Why This Matters

Many of us wake up and switch on a light without thinking twice. We open the fridge and know there will be food. We charge our phones, cook dinner, take a shower — all simple things that we don’t even notice.

Right now, this family can’t do any of those things.

They are trying to rebuild from nothing. They are strong, grateful people who don’t complain — but they truly need help. And they don’t have access to the resources we do.

How You Can Help

Even $1, $5, or $10 makes a real difference in Jamaica.
It may feel small to us, but it’s life-changing for them.

Your donation will help with:

Rebuilding the chicken coop so her mother can earn income again
(materials + labor: $2,500)

A generator to keep food cold during long power outages
(approx. $1,500)

Food, water, and basic essentials for the family
(approx. $700)

Miscellaneous and emergency needs
(approx. $300)

Total needed: $5,000

Every dollar will go directly to helping Okeera’s family recover with dignity, safety, and hope.

A Personal Message From Me

I’ve watched this family show strength in a situation that would break so many. Even with no power, no steady food supply, and no income, they continue to stay hopeful and grateful.

I’m asking — from one human to another — if you can give anything during this season of giving, please help.
And if you can’t donate, sharing this page means the world.

Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and for caring about a family who is fighting to rebuild after losing everything. ❤️

With love,
Narmeen
on behalf of Okeera & the Harris family
