My name is Brandon, and I teach a unique group of 24 third-grade students in Weston, WV. Many of my students come from low-income and impoverished homes, and several have special needs, including those on the Autism Spectrum. I believe every child deserves the chance to experience hands-on learning, and that’s why I’m passionate about bringing an indoor classroom garden to our school.
With my experience in indoor gardening, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact it can have on children’s health and wellbeing. Our classroom uses a Gardyn hydroponics tower, which allows us to grow a variety of plants indoors. The tower even has a wireless camera, so students can watch the plants grow from home and stay connected to the project outside of school hours. This year, I want to provide a year’s worth of supplies through a membership with Gardyn, ensuring that our garden thrives and continues to inspire curiosity and growth.
The garden will give my students the opportunity to experiment with different types of plants, learn about science in a hands-on way, and even taste the fruits of their labor. For many of my students, this will be their first experience growing and eating fresh produce. Your support will help us create a nurturing, educational environment where every child can thrive, regardless of their background or abilities. Thank you for helping us grow together.
