UPDATE FROM MY DEAR COUSIN, POST-EYE SURGERY :

Hello everyone, I am knocking again on your kind hearts to ask for financial help with my medications and pre-operational expenses I was supposed to be operated on Sep 19 for my left eye unfortunately I tested positive for COVID 19
last Sept 12. I required 7-day isolation because of symptoms where I experienced dry coughs and chills. On the morning of Sept 15, my right eye (the one operated) got very blurred (as if there were ashes on it). When I got negative results the following week, I went to the doctor right away, and he said that the veins in my retina bled again due to stress and COVID.
He said that my left eye is also getting more blurred because the retina is almost detaching. And because of this, I was given the advice to take a leave. We are already working on-site and it takes 3 modes of public transportation to work. I am having a difficult time traveling to work due to my condition. The traveling expenses are high as well. Last Sept 20, I filed for a leave without pay. And because of this, I have financial insufficiency regarding my medical expenses like monthly medications, pre-operational laboratories, and professional fees to the specialists (endo, nephro and opthal). My dear friends and family, I am knocking again on your kind hearts for assistance. Thank you and God bless.

With love,
Carolyn Anne Buen

Our dear cousin Carolyn has been told recently that she needs surgery as soon as possible to save her beautiful eyes. Please donate what you can -- she is a kind-hearted loving daughter, mother, wife, and teacher.

Here is her story:

Hi, my name is Ma. Carolyn Anne Buen Parulan,

I am 37 years old, married with 2 daughters. My eldest, Julianne, is 6 years old and my youngest, Jhennica, is 3 years old. I am a public school teacher here in the Philippines and earn an average of $200 per month. My husband who is a contractual worker in a government agency earns $150 per month. I am a diabetic and has been taking insulin since last May 2021. On January 29, 2022, I experienced severe vertigo and blurry vision. The following month, I went to my eye doctor and was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is a diabetes complication that affects your eyes. It's caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye (retina). My doctor said that I need to undergo surgery in order to prevent further severe complications of the disease. She said it can lead to blindness if I will not be operated on as soon as possible. The cost of the operation for both eyes is $10,000 USD, excluding other medical expenses, like laboratories for diagnostics and medicines. With our current financial situation, we cannot afford the surgery. And so I am humbly asking for your generous heart to help me for the sake of my two daughters who still need me. Thank you and God bless all of you.

Thank you for your generosity in helping our cousin keep her vision. We will keep everyone updated on the surgery and hopefully, it will be soon.
