Cedar Grove, WV Vex IQ Robotics Team

My name is Megan Gothard and I am a 5th grade teacher at a Title 1 elementary school in a small town bordering southern WV.  Our school is nestled in the beautiful WV hills.   Because of budget cuts and loss of jobs in the community, we struggle to find the financial support to offer programs that carry a heavy financial burden.   Our percentage of free and reduced lunch is 94 % of our student population. 

We are a first year robotics team, and to make a long story short, our students have won 3 awards this year with the final award being a ticket to the Vex IQ World Championship in Louisville KY!!!!! 

Becuase a ticket to World's is determined by becoming a finalist in the State championship, we had no idea we would nee to fundraise for this event until this past Saturday March 3, 2018.

These kids have worked so hard, during school, after school, and even throughout the current work stoppage communicating with me through emails and texts to pull it all together.  I am beyond proud of them!

I am trying to raise money for $1000 entrance fee, 10 tickets to Kentucky Kingdom @ $55 a piece which is on the Vex World's agenda, and 10 hotel rooms for 3 nights @ a discounted rate of $119 a night  totaling $3,570. Any additional monies raised will go towards paying for the student's meals. 

This is an amazing opportunity for my kids and I want to make sure EVERY student can participate!!
