I am the mother of an 8-year-old autistic boy who, on Friday 4/24/2026, was rushed to the emergency room because he was barely responsive and was going into a coma. For months, I had been searching for answers, worried about his health and desperate to find out what was wrong. It was only through this life-threatening situation that we finally received a diagnosis: type 1 diabetes. The relief of finally knowing what was happening was mixed with fear and uncertainty about what comes next.

Now that we know his diagnosis, our family is facing new challenges. My son needs insulin, regular doctor visits, medicine, supplies, and a specific food intake to keep him healthy. All of these necessities are vital for his well-being, but they are also expensive and will take a toll on our family. We are doing everything we can to support him, but the costs are overwhelming and we need help to make sure he gets everything he needs.
